Stories from Dante readers from across the globe
Dante on the Move presents work from Dante readers from countries including Afghanistan, China, Egypt, Iran, Kurdistan, Ukraine, the USA and Venezuela who came together in Rome to celebrate and challenge the legacy of the poet, Dante Alighieri in the Spring of 2023.
This anthology draws on work produced in the context of the Reading Dante with Refugees course at Trinity College Rome Campus led by Dr Jennifer Allsopp and Morteza Khalegi in association with the University of Birmingham’s Institute for Research into International Migration and Superdiversity (IRiS).
“A short and wonderful insight into the effects of being a displaced person (refugee from war, genocide, political and sexist persecution) in 2024.
Written by post graduate students (many themselves refugees) as a sequel to a University course they attended in Rome.
It includes links to online videos of performances etc.
Heartbreaking, inspirational and unrelentingly hopeful.”
